HISTORY, BACKGROUND & USES:
Discovered in 1802 by Anders Gustaf Ekeberg. Tantalum is a very hard, silvery-gray metal. Properties are similar to that of the element niobium (41). Some uses for this rare metal are: electrolytic capacitors and corrosion resistant chemical equipment.
