HISTORY,
BACKGROUND & USES:
Discovered in 1925 by Ida and Walter Noddack and Otto Carl
Berg. Rhenium is one of the most dense elements. The metal and its
alloys have such uses as in fountain pen points, high-temperature
thermocouples, catalysts, electrical contact points, instrument
bearing points, and in electrical components. It has a silvery-white
color.
