HISTORY,
BACKGROUND & USES:
Discovered in 1450 by Basil Valentine. Bismuth shows the greatest opposition to being magnetized of
all metals. It has a tin-white color with a red tinge. Its alloys
are used in fire-sprinkler heads, fire-door release lines, fuses,
and other fire-detection and temperature-control devices.
